What do I do with This Moodle Thing Anyway?

So you Gotta Online Learn:

As a seasoned expert in the world of online education, I thought I would provide some coping tactics to help those that aren't as familiar. I Have taken at least half my degree work online, probably closer to three quarters.

Without further Ado, let us begin.

Structure:

Structuring your day will largely depend on you. Your professor may set deadlines for assignments and time limits for tests. Other than that you are on you own.

This can be very freeing and very terrifying in equal measure. Pick a sleep wake schedule that is consistent with what is expected of you for class attendance. make sure to build in activities like home workouts and showering as well as meal times and chore times. it is very easy to slip out of good habits when our norms are disrupted.

Sample day:

wake 6:30 AM

shower 7 AM

eat 7:30 AM

readings 9 AM - 11 AM

snack 11:15 AM

workout /shower 11:20 AM - 11:50 AM

lunch 12:00 PM

Assignments 1 PM - 3 PM

Reading for funzies

This is essential. build in time to do fun things for part of the day whether that's recreational reading or video games, etc. There are  apps available which allow for human contact too. Such as Skype, movies with friends, and good old phone calls and texting.

How not to hate time with family:

Remember that even extroverts need a certain amount of alone time to be functional humans. This goes double strength for introverts. Be kind to yourself and allow some alone time in your room doing something you love or just nothing at all. Even if it's only a stolen hour before bed time.

Get outside!

Go for walks/jogs/runs maintaining proper social distance. sit in your backyard reading a book or doing a craft ( get that vitamin D). Make sure social distancing also applies to any pets you have as well.

I'm here if anyone needs help figuring out their online class portals too. I've used both moodle and blackboard in my time.
