Review: Pretty in Ink

Pretty in Ink Pretty in Ink by Lindsey J. Palmer
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well, this was just one of those books where I had extreme difficulty putting aside my writer brain in favor of my reader brain. The Multi-POV narration style really hurt this one from my perspective.

As a writer it (multi-POV) hurt because it was ill-executed. there were too many characters. Some of which only existed to provide a different witness angle for a given scene. Every character should have their own purpose in your story. They should not exists solely to provide a viewpoint that could have easily been provided through exposition. But that's just one writer's opinion.

As for the reader's perspective, I disliked the Multi-POV simply because it was so jarring to the plotline. The world building was decent, and the storyline was good. Where I draw the line is the pacing. I sincerely hope the action sequence was saved until the last five pages because there is going to be a sequel. I really didn't know any character well enough to feel invested and root for them until the last fifty pages or so. This book was an all-around solid read, but it could have been so much stronger.
